Frequently Asked Questions for Applicants

How does the scholarship program work?


People with disabilities (or their parent[s] or guardian[s]) interested in financial support apply here on the Access Unbound site. Complete the application. Our grant committee will then review your application, and we will contact you to let you know if you have been approved. By accepting support, you are agreeing to provide a form of recognition to the donor. This could include writing a letter, creating a drawing, and/or sending photographs from the lesson experience. Letters and photographs are particularly appreciated. Once this is received, support will be applied directly to your bill with Vail Resorts, and you will remain eligible for support in the future.


Where will I stay?

When you contact the adaptive program office at Vail or Beaver Creek, they will be able to provide you with suggestions.


Can my family come?

Absolutely! The more the merrier.


Where do I park?

What is the age requirement/limit?

As many years young as you are!


What are the logistics of getting my child from the parking lot to the slopes if they are in a wheelchair?

When you contact the adaptive program office at Vail or Beaver Creek, they will be able to provide you with suggestions.


How can my child be accommodated on a ski lift?

When you contact the adaptive program office at Vail or Beaver Creek, they will be able to provide you with some of the potential options that your instructor may use.


How long does the session last each day?

As long as you would like. The adaptive programs at Vail or Beaver Creek offer full-day or half-day options (which are completely customizable) and can answer any questions you may have.


How many are in a group or is it a private session?

At this time, Access Unbound supports those taking private lessons through the adaptive programs at Vail or Beaver Creek, but there are additional offerings. Please contact the office to make lessons.


Where is the nearest hospital? Are the medical services onsite?

Vail is the home to the world-renowned Vail Valley Medical Center, The Steadman Clinic, and Vail-Summit Orthopedics.


Will you use my photos, videos, and stories from my time here?

Yes. By submitting your application you are granting permission to the rights of your (and those accompanying you) image, likeness, and voice as recorded on audio or video tape without payment or any other consideration. Images may be edited, copied, exhibited, published, or distributed and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein your likeness appears. Additionally, you waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of your image or recording. Understand that this material may be used in diverse settings within an unrestricted geographic area. This permission signifies that photographic or video recordings may be electronically displayed via the Internet, in public settings, and/or print materials.

Photographic, audio, or video recordings may be used for, but are not limited to, the following purposes:
conference presentations and/or materials
educational presentations or courses and/or materials
informational presentations and/or materials
on-line presentations and/or materials
educational videos and/or materials

There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic limitation on where these materials may be distributed.

This applies to photographic, audio, or video recordings collected as part of your participation in activities conducted through Access Unbound.

What should I send as a form of recognition to the donors? Where should I send it?

We have some students who write letters along with their family; some families send a letter with photos; some send a letter with artwork, etc. Letters and photos are great., If you have something else you want to do that we haven’t thought of that’s great too. The main goal is to show donors how this scholarship makes a difference. This acknowledgment can be sent to or mailed to:

How much does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship will cover half of the cost of the full-day or half-day lessons for up to five days per season. You will be charged half by the resort and the other half will go onto our bill, and we will pay that once we have received your donor acknowledgment. (If for some reason we did not receive the acknowledgment from a guest the resort would then bill back out to the guest.)

How do I book my lessons?

Please call the adaptive office at Vail or Beaver Creek.

What is your cancelation policy?

If for some reason you find you need to cancel your lesson, please be sure to adhere to the resort’s cancellation policy as scholarship funding cannot be used toward any fees incurred.

What if I don’t send a form of donor recognition?

You will no longer be eligible for support in the future.

What if I don’t want my name or images used in future promotional materials?

Please contact us directly so we can discuss options.

Is Vail Resorts going to increase prices since there is support available?

Access Unbound is not affiliated with Vail Resorts. So, we do not know if and when they will increase their prices.
